Shoot, Ride and Dive Promotes Tourism in Cebu Province with DIVE7 Festival 2023 | Motourismo

The recently concluded DIVE7 Festivals 2023, with the theme “Shoot, Ride and Dive” was a success, which started last May 25, 2023 at the Municipality of Medellin in the Province of Cebu. The four-day festival series included exciting underwater and beach activities, golf, target shooting and motorcycle rides and a photography competition. 

The event is a joint initiative of the Provincial Government of Cebu, the local government of Medellin, and the Department of Tourism- Central Visayas (DOT7) through its DIVE7 Program and the participation of the MOTOR7 Program.

The DIVE7 Festival opened towards sunset with a ceremonial tee-off at the Queens Island Golf and Resort, a ceremonial ride through the iconic Aisle of Medellin and fun shoot at the Philippine Army’s 53rd Engineering Brigade (EB). It ended with the awarding of winners of the photography contest at the Akropora Resorts.

The host-municipality is the sugar bowl of Cebu Province. Its scenic Aisle of Medellin is favored by touring riders for its refreshing bamboo canopies and the rustic countryside atmosphere. Its immaculate white beaches call out to moments of relaxing serenity as the azure waters beckon with a diverse range of colorful fish and corals.

“Shoot, Ride and Dive” is the debut of golf and target shooting in the summer festival. Golfers faced off in matches at the Queens Island Golf and Resort and Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club, while pistol and rifle firing was held at the premises of the 53rd EB in Barangay Poblacion.

Aside from snorkeling, deep-sea diving, and the underwater photography contest, the festival’s dive component was a full complement of events. Children and adult beginner-divers participated in the introductory Bubblemaker for Kids and Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) courses. A coastal and underwater clean-up activity was also conducted last Saturday, May 27.

Permitting and accreditation services was offered onsite through the One-Stop-Shop installed in collaboration with the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD), the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Province of Cebu.

A flagship program of DOT7, DIVE7 solidly establishes Central Visayas on the global tourism map as a prime dive destination while securing resource and industry sustainability. The program was recently named among the Most Sustainable Programs worldwide by Wanderlust Travel Magazine, one of the United Kingdom’s longest-running publications promoting sustainable travel.

MOTOR7, also initiated by the DOT7, highlights the exhilaration of exploring the great outdoors of Region 7 while promoting safe riding and ecological awareness.
